A Fedex Cargo McDonnell Douglas MD-10 plane, flying from Memphis to Fort Lauderdale, caught fire as it landed. The NTSB found the left main gear collapsed during landing, which caused the left engine and side of the wing to scrape the runway and ignite the fire.

The MD-10 plane had 84,589 hours of flight time and 35,606 flight cycles. Due to the crash, the aircraft received substantial damage.

Two crew were on board at the time and were uninjured.
