A man from Mukwa, Wisconsin, walks away with his life after his home-built plane crashed in a field near a neighborhood. The aircraft had less than fifty hours of flight time.

Paul Nichols, a resident of the neighborhood, heard the plane crash and rushed in to help, discovering the pilot stuck within the rubble but still conscious. Nichols pulled the pilot from the plane with just moments to spare, as the plane exploded moments later.

The pilot was sent to a hospital in New London where he was diagnosed with head injuries. An article on this event can be found here.
