Earlier this January, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner quickly had to return to Delhi after taking off, due to a cracked windshield. The plane was able to make a safe landing and the passengers were placed on another aircraft to make it to their destination of Kolkata.
In the past few months, there were two more incidents of cracked windshields on Air India airplanes. Three years ago, Air India faced a similar problem, forcing them to change the models of their windshields.
Dinesh Keskar, the senior vice president of sales Asia-Pacific and India at Boeing stated that these recent incidents don’t affect flight safety, due to the many layers that make up the windshields.
