HORSESHOE BAY, Texas (KXAN) — A small plane crashed onto State Highway 71 immediately after takeoff from the Horseshoe Bay Resort Airport. The highway was closed in both directions between FM 2147 and US 281 as authorities waited for Federal Aviation Administration officials to arrive on scene to investigate the crash.
The pilot was the only person on board, and was able to get off the plane before it caught fire. He was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge.
Eastbound traffic was rerouted to FM 2147 through Horseshoe Bay, while westbound vehicles were asked to take FM 2147 or FM 262 via US 281.
Department of Public Safety Troopers, Llano and Burnet County Sheriff’s deputies, and Horseshoe Bay and Marble Falls police are all on scene along with fire and EMS personnel.
