Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) – Authorities were called to a plane crash at the Bong Airport in Superior around 2:10 p.m. Wednesday.

Superior Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Edwards said the pilot experienced technical difficulties with the small aircaft.

The pilot could not get the plane back to the runway, and decided to land in the field.

The plane landed on the right wing with its wheels detached.

Edwards said the plane will remain at the scene until the Federal Aviation Administration comes to investigate the crash.
